Useful Information for Albuquerque NM

Albuquerque is the city in the state of New Mexico. It serves as the county seat for Bernalillo County, and it is situated in the central part of the state, straddling the Rio Grande. Originally, the city of Albuquerque was founded in 1706 as a Spanish colonial outpost. The city today proudly displays its historic Spanish heritage through both cultural and architectural displays.

Albuquerque was originally a farming community, and built in the traditional Spanish style of a central plaza surrounded by government buildings, homes and a church. This original style has been preserved, and many visitors flock to the Old Town area which today includes a museum as well as shops and restaurants. Boasting a population of more than half a million, unemployment remains relatively low. One of the major art events for the state of New Mexico is the annual Arts and Crafts Fair held during the summer. This non-profit show is exclusive to New Mexico artists and has been held every year since 1961.
